"Nothing is as precious as smiles! Tell a joke wherever you walk!"
- Bittergiggle
Overview
Bittergiggle, also known as Case 17 or alias The Jester, is the main antagonist of Garten of Banban IV and main protagonist of Garten of Banban VI.
Personality
Bittergiggle is a very silly, energetic jokester who wants nothing more than to make someone's day with his jokes. He can sometimes be over the top, especially when he goes insane from isolation and lack of fulfillment of his purpose to tell jokes. He can still be somewhat calm and thoughtful despite his energetic personality, bonding with those around him.
Appearance
Normal
Bittergiggle appears as a humanoid creature split into two parts. His right side is frowning, corrugated and indigo apart from a green foot and a spiky green shape around the eye. His left is smiling and smooth with the same colors swapped around, and a rounder shape around the eye.
Hellish
Bittergiggle's Hellish form is a dark grey with purple veins, eyes, and teeth due to being Naughtified, but his head is split in half into a giant mouth with sharp teeth and a large tongue. His mouth is bigger and more exaggerated with rough stretched edges. His bumpy side is bumpier on all sides with small creases through it, creating a more veiny and exaggerated appearance. His other side is smooth but ballooned up with smaller veins being visible.
Gameplay
Garten of Banban III
Bittergiggle is first seen in Garten of Banban III, but only as his depiction on a half-burnt piece of paper that can be found after defeating Tamataki & Chamataki in the Dragon Fight Room. This paper displays Bittergiggle's Depiction, along with Zolphius, and Tamataki & Chamataki. His name had yet to be revealed.
Garten of Banban IV
Bittergiggle makes his true appearance in Garten of Banban IV, serving as main antagonist. He truly first appears in a dark corner of the Housing Sector station, backing off and disappearing when approached. In the Ventilation Sector, the player can find the the mural for Bittergiggle, putting a name to the face. When the player enters the room to the right, the door shuts, separating the player from Sheriff Toadster and leaving them in complete darkness. Once the Sheriff is off to figure out how to open the door, the front lights in the room suddenly turn on. A small "hungry snake" is illuminated on the other side of the room, asking for food. When the player comes close the "snake" revealed to be the right hand of Bittergiggle. He chases the player until Sheriff Toadster gets the door open and hits Bittergiggle with a "toadstar," causing him to retreat. Sheriff Toadster explains that this is the same "jester" he'd spoken of.
Bittergiggle doesn't appear again until the player reaches the Kittysaurus Room in the Employee Exercise Sector. Bittergiggle can be seen standing in the middle, but runs into the left door when the player gets too close. The door at the front then opens, and Kittysaurus comes out to fight the player. After the player defeats Kittysaurus and completes the Queen Bouncelia Mission, they enter a room to collect an elevator part, but Bittergiggle traps them inside. While trapped, Bittergiggle starts his monologue about his jokes and his determination to make Queen Bouncelia laugh, completely ignoring that The Naughty Ones will escape if this happens. He then realizes Sheriff Toadster is occupied because of the player, and quickly leaves to reach Queen Bouncelia.
After the player escapes the room they were trapped in, they visit the Housing Sector throne room, however, Bittergiggle and Kittysaurus confront Queen Bouncelia and Little Beak. Bittergiggle then explains that he is here to deliver his jokes, but this causes Queen Bouncelia to jump down from the top ledge, accidentally causing Little Beak to fall into some givanium. Little Beak transforms into a hulking monstrosity and fights Kittysaurus off camera. Bittergiggle talks more about his "joks" before telling one of his own. Even though the joke he told was terrible, Queen Bouncelia laughs anyway, causing The Naughty Ones to escape. Sheriff Toadster then appears to escort the player to the elevator, but Bittergiggle begins chasing them. Fortunately, Sheriff Toadster and the player make it to safety. He was just know as "The Jester"
Personality
In Garten of Banban IV, Bittergiggle is a cunning and relatively unhinged jester that wants nothing more and nothing less than to make Queen Bouncelia laugh. He adamantly refuses to heed the warnings of what would happen if he were to succeed. He refers to himself as "The Ultimate Jokester", but raves on about how he can't even do the one thing he was made to do; be actually funny. In summary he's self centered, ambitious, and totally obsessed with living up to his self-proclaimed title.
Garten of Banban VI
Bittergiggle appears as a protagonist. He is seen first in the introduction sector, being regretful for the action that he has done in the previous game. When the video in the room starts he tells the player to hide in the room and not to open the door for sir Dadadoo. After pressing the button he says that he will think of a joke to tell sheriff Toadster on the way back. Bittergiggle intervenes after sir Dadadoo attacks Banban in the potentiality sector. With the help of the player, he fixes the four locks to get access to the office with the third button.
Personality
In Garten of Banban VI, Bittergiggle takes a turn, claiming to regret his actions from the previous game. He becomes an ally to the protagonist and starts to be portrayed as less reckless. As shown when the Player, and Banban were ambushed by Sir dadadoo. Near the end of the game during The Naughty Ones chase, he throws himself into the abyss with them in hopes that, as in his words, "this will be his one chance to have an audience".
Garten of Banban VII
Bittergiggle appears as a secondary antagonist. He is appears in The Motel. After Player goes to highest floor he scares a citizen and chases Player in his hellish naughtified form on the Rooftop. When Player and the Sheriff Toadster hides behind the door, Bittergiggle breaks the door and attacks the Sheriff but he accidentally kills Bittergiggle.Story
Before 2016 | Event 7.5
Syringeon was created to help with the dangerous surgical procedures needed to bring cases to life. But due to Syringeon having one of the lowest KAS scores they began looking for potential replacement concepts and deemed him permanently not ready for presentation.
Before 2016 | Event 14
Sheriff Toadster is created using the genomes of a human donor and a frog donor. He only acts like a simple toad, hopping, and ribbiting around.
Before 2016 | Event 23
The scientists at the kindergarten are informed that they must abandon development on Cases 4, 9, 14, & 17 aka Syringeon, Sheriff Toadster, Queen Bouncelia, and Bittergiggle. So they decide to dump the 4 abandoned experiments in level -5 of the Kindergarten. In the lower level they find Sir Dadadoo, another abandoned experiment. Then they shift all resources dedicated to Syringeon to Stinger Flynn due to his much higher levels of intelligence.
2016 | Event 25
Queen Bouncelia, and Sir Dadadoo begin creating their own cases after Syringeon gives them the information on how to. With the help of the other kingdom members Sir Dadadoo begins creating a plan to overthrow management and take control of the kindergarten. Shortly after the plan is created an expedition is sent down to their level that reveals that they have been creating sub cases, aka ‘The Mutants Below’. The expedition also finds out that they are planning a rebellion, the expedition team gives everyone except Sir Dadadoo the choice of doing their rebellion and destroying everything they’ve achieved or not. Case 18 (Sir Dadadoo) was not asked this question due to him being very for the bloody battle a rebellion would bring.
2016 | Event 26
The Kingdom attempted to launch a rebellion against the Kindergarten's management. This plan failed, but instead of backing down and sparing the other Cases from the chaos, Sir Dadadoo used Queen Bouncelia's Scepter to create an army of Naughty Ones and tried to use them to overthrow the kindergarten as well as possessing the minds of some Cases, known as naughtification. All of the other kingdom members refused to go along with his evil ways of completing their plan, and instead turned on him and stole back Queen Bouncelia's Scepter and used it to seal Sir Dadadoo and the rest of the Naughty Ones inside of Queen Bouncelia's pouch. Sir Dadadoo held a grudge against those of the Kindergarten, especially Queen Bouncelia and Syringeon.
2016 | Event 30
It was planned that six cases (being Stinger Flynn, Banban, Banbaleena, Captain Fiddles, Opila Bird, and Jumbo Josh)[1] would be present on Bring a Friend Day, but many were behind in development, with the only cases ready for presentation being Case 12G (Captain Fiddles) and Case 13 (Stinger Flynn). Despite this, the six chosen cases were brought to the Outer Sector to be presented to the children, their friends, parents, workers, and the company owners. During this time, the cases present acted as they were supposed to. Uthman Adam and Weverly Mason were inside of the facility during the event, but planned to sneak out and board a flight to Madrid, Spain as they suspected that the Ball Pit was likely to collapse under the weight of the children on it.[2] Sooner than expected, the Ball Pit collapsed under the weight, killing the children in the ball pit, and setting off a chain reaction that would destroy the facility.
Zolphius awakened in the abyss, Banban transformed into his Hellish form, and the animalistic instincts of the rest of the mascots were triggered causing them to break out of their cells and to go on a murderous rampage after the children, workers, and parents.[3][4] It also caused something dangerous to escape deep on level -4 of the kindergarten, as mentioned by one worker left on floor -4 in the Employee Training Sector. [5] Queen Bouncelia and Sheriff Toadster also heard the screams, and Sheriff Toadster witnessed some of the chaos above, making him believe his friends had gone mad and thus labelled them as criminals. A surgery in the Arboreal/Aquatic Sector was also taking place during Bring a Friend Day, preformed on Nabnaleena with the doctors completing everything except the Givanium injections. However, before they could complete the final steps to bring Nabnaleena to life, they heard the screams from above. Nabnab broke out of his containment, causing the doctors to abort the surgery and eventually suffering an unknown fate.
Stinger Flynn did not participate in the rampage, instead saving the living children from other monsters and taking them and Mason deeper into the facility.[6] Stinger Flynn took the group to a variety of areas, and at one point threw a party to distract the children.[7] A while later, Zolphius appeared and Mason told the children to not talk to him, and at some point after Stinger Flynn left.[8] [9] It is unkown what happened to Uthman Adam.
2016 | Interrogation (48)
The Player wakes up in The Interrogation Room with a table in front of them. Sheriff Toadster begins asking The Player which Monsters they have encountered before. The player answers the questions, and Sheriff Toadster transports them to The Queen. Queen Bouncelia realizes that The Player is looking for their child so she releases The Player and grants her citizenship to the kingdom. The Queen explains that she will help The Player find their children if she goes with Sheriff Toadster to find all 3 parts required to fix the elevator.
2016 | Naughty Ones Escape (50)
The Player runs to the Queen as she is cornered in her throne room by Bittergiggle & Kittysaurus, Bittergiggle informs the Queen that he is back to finally deliver his jokes and make the Queen laugh! Queen Bouncelia jumps down from the top of the room to defend her self but this causes Little Beak to fall into a giant barrel of Givanium which transformers her into a giant Givanium monster bigger than Opila Bird. Little Beak jumps out of the Givanium and roars as she attacks Kittysaurus, throwing herself and him down the stairs where they begin fighting. Bittergiggle says his joke and the Queen can barely hold her laughter and eventually fails saying “that was.. terrible, Hahahahhahahha! Hahahahah!” Once this happens Queen Bouncelia is launched backwards and the Naughty Ones begin escaping her pouch as a giant bright purple light burst out of the pouch. Bittergiggle immediately begins chasing after Sheriff Toadster and The Player who are running towards the elevator. Sheriff Toadster remote opens every cell in the Infirmary just as they reach the elevator where Sheriff Toadster has also allowed Stinger Flynn to come along with them. The Player, Sheriff Toadster, and Stinger Flynn escape the kingdom as Floor -4 collapses.
2016 | Naughtification/Kingdom Collapse (51)
After the escape of the Naughty ones, the player sets out on a mission to find all 4 buttons on floor -5, which all must be activated to open a door to the Scepter room. In the Scepter Room, there is a chest containing The Scepter. After activating all 4 buttons Banban, The Player, & Bittergiggle enter the Scepter Room, when suddenly Nabnab comes and presses the button to open the chest. Inside of the chest is The Scepter, except it is missing a piece, which was taken by The Surgeon, who fled with it after the escape of The Naughty Ones. Sir Dadadoo moves into the room with his leeches following shortly behind. In an attempt to escape, Banban pretends to make friends with Nabnab, but just as Nabnab is calmed, Banban pulls out a syringe likely filled with the same solution that made him hellish, and injects it into Nabnab, which instantly turns him into his newly created Hellish form. Hellish Nabnab attacks Sir Dadadoo allowing Banban, Bittergiggle, & The Player to flee into the garden with a Naughty One following behind. The 3 exit the garden arriving at 2 worker lift shafts, one has a lift, and the other doesn't. Bittergiggle realizes that the Naughty Ones actually laugh at his jokes, so he chooses to fall into the empty shaft so that he can become their Jester. Banban and The Player continue ahead and get onto the 2nd lift, but Sir Dadadoo follows them and corners the exit, revealing that he has captured and Naughtified almost all of the Banban Gang. Banban steps out of the lift to hold off the Naughtified monsters and allow the Player to escape with the hope that they will find The Surgeon and free everyone. The Naughtified Cases brutally tear Banban apart covering him in scratch marks and ripping out his left eye. Banban quickly succumbs to his injuries...
However, in the teaser for Garten Of Banban VIII He has somehow gotten up and is lurking around Floor -7.
2016 | Bittergiggle’s Death (53)
After the player searches throughout the city for information on the whereabouts of Jumbo Josh they end up at the Motel where a guest tells them they will give out information on Jumbo Josh if the Player stops the screaming in the top floor of the Motel. So the Player heads up and is meant with a screaming citizen pointing at a room, suddenly Hellish Naughtified Bittergiggle walks out of the room saying “I remember you, you always hated my jokes!” and begins chasing the player, The Player ends up jumping between building roofs with Bittergiggle following shortly behind until the reach a roof to far away to jump to however Toadster stands on top of the roof holding out his arms to catch the Player. So the Player jumps and is barely caught by Toadster, Naughtified Hellish Bittergiggle jumps onto the roof and Toadster throws one of his famous toadstars and Bittergiggle causing him to fall to the ground and denaughtifed. Toadster grabs Bittergiggle and holds him in his arms as he tells his final joke…
2016 | Naughty Fight (54)
After collecting a sample on Josh’s DNA and combining it with the Surgeon’s piece of the scepter a lure is created for Jumbo Josh. However Sir Dadadoo and his Naughtified army appear first to confront The Surgeon just as he hoped he would. As the naughtified cases surround the square the Surgeon says “You and your army are about to get knackered” as Jumbo Josh shakes the ground making an appearance down the road. Jumbo Josh jumps up and begins beating his chest then he runs at Kittysaurus punching her straight in the face which knocks her against the courtyard wall, Banbaleena try’s to jump at Jumbo Josh but he just picks her up and throws her across the city like a doll, Nabnaleena jumps onto Jumbo Josh and crawls all over his body in circles confusing him as Tamataki and Chamataki charge at Jumbo Josh pinning him against the courtyard wall, however the impact force caused by the chameleon and turtle knocks Nabnaleena off of Josh and she falls behind, Jumbo Josh looks down and raises Tamataki and Chamataki above his head throwing them behind him into the city. Opila Bird and Tarta Bird charge at josh while screaming but Jumbo Josh just punches them away like ants, Kittysaurus gets back up charging at josh but he just punches his fist straight into her mouth throwing her head backwards so he can land another punch on the side of her head, he then grabs the top and bottom of her jaw and pulls it open as hard as he came breaking her jaw and knocking her unconscious. With all his Naughtified Monsters defeated Sir Dadadoo asks “Maybe we can negotiate something?” But Jumbo Josh just throws Dadadoo to the floor repeatedly punching him into either loss of consciousness or death. After all of them are defeated Jumbo Josh picks up the newly complete scepter and eats it while Syringeon screams “NO DONT EAT IT!” A large purple explosion comes out of the scepter from Josh’s mouth as the screen is consumed in light.
Voicelines Transcripts
After getting trapped in the Bittergiggle Room:
- Hi! I'm a hungry snake. Do you have any food?
- *laughing*
Before Kittysaurus fight
- *Laughing*
Getting trapped in a room, after Kittysaurus fight.
- Like a bug to a zapper!
- I won't lie, I thought the dinosaur would finish you off, but if trapping you will get you out of my way too then who am I to complain?
- I'd tell you a very fitting joke but you humans just never seem to get them.
- The closest people denied me what I was made to do: People who were genetically-programmed to laugh at my every joke!
- They cited some end-of-the-world scenario where whatever's in the queen's pouch escapes if I make her laugh, but i'm not buying it!
- I was distraught and I became dead set on making the ultimate jokester. But after failing time and time again, I realized something.
- I AM the ultimate jokester. There was nobody else better to be made, even if by me.
- With the sheriff occupied thanks to you, reaching the queen will be a piece of cake.
- I will go now, because unlike you, my path of getting my family back has never been clearer.
Bittergiggle's Laugh
After reaching Queen Bouncelia
- Your majesty, I have finally come to do what I was made for, and deliver my jokes.
- This is my best batch yet!
- Awww, they grow up so fast.
- Too bad she's about to get completely crushed.
- I've followed every single one of your orders. Why won't you give me that satisfaction one last time? All I want is to make you laugh.
- I do. And I told myself time and time again that some things are more important than laughter.
- But I can't wait anymore. I need to make you laugh, even if just for a little bit!
- I can't be put aside again! I am nothing without a ruler to entertain!
- I am sorry.
- Your majesty, tell me.
- What did the train conductor say to the kangaroo?
- Hop on!
- *laughing*
Inside the Introduction Sector
- Are… Are they gone?
- Don't worry, I..I'm not going to hurt you.
- I've done enough damage as it is...
- I know it doesn't make up for what I've done and trying to take you down, but I'm sorry. I truly am.
- I don't know what came over me. I just... Couldn't hold myself back...
- I knew the consequences well, and I still went ahead and said that stupid joke! And now the queen's probably dead because of me...
- I wouldn't blame you if you don't forgive me, but I will be very thankful if you do. Just know that I'll do my best to make up for what I did.
- You're here for the switch for the room where the scepter is, right?
- It's in here, but it's inside of that locker. I can't figure out what to do...
After activating all colors lights
- What are all of these colorful lights for?
If the player turns off the light
- Whatever you plan to do with the lights this dim, do it quickly. The Naughty ones know no mercy.
If the player turns the light back on
- Man do I feel much safer with the lights back on…
After putting all color lights on the board
- We gotta hide! Get in here!
- We gotta wait till whatever video is playing outside ends.
- Don't. Say. A word.
- He's out already? Don't even think about opening this door.
If the player open the blue door
- No! What are you doing?!
After Sir Dadadoo leaves the Introduction Sector
- The lights are turning back on. I think the video is ending.
- It's worse than I thought. And it's all because of me.
- We should go back to wherever you came from. On the way back I'll think of some jokes that might distract the Sheriff from obliterating me on sight.
After Banbaleena's kidnapping
- Let's get out of here!
- Okay... we're safe for now. So there's that.
- I did... and I plan to make up for it.
- How do you even talk? Jellyfish have no brain.
- We should go turn on the other switch of the door. Let's head to the potentiality sector next.
Fighting Sir Dadadoo
- Leave them alone!
- *screams*
After opening the purple door
- Hold Up. Let's stay together.
Inside The Naughty Ones Boss Fight Room
- My head hurts... did you see where Sir Dadadoo went after our skirmish?
- Wait, I know this place. The switch should be on the office above, but getting in there won't be easy.
- We would have to activate the four locks of the door from down here, but they need fixing first, and they need power.
- I can fix them if there is power, but I remember the Sheriff rigging the power switch so that it would alert the entire facility to our location if activated.
- It would trigger an alarm, which is sure to attract some unwanted guests.
- If you could cover me from above while I fix the switches down here, we might be able to get into that office.
- I'm ready when you are.
After the player presses the reboot button
- Don't panic! That was expected.
- Keep your eyes on the twelve lights around me. If they turn red, point one of the light poles at them. You can control them.
- If too many turn red without your interference, we are done for!
- Eyes on the ceiling too. The light up there needs to be recharged after every use.
- Here they come!
- One down!
- Two more!
- One more!
- Done!
- Activate the switch and let's head back! I don't want to spend another minute in this place.
Bittergiggle tells a joke while leaving the Potentiality Sector
- Hang on, we need to talk.
- We've been making great progress so far, and it's really getting my spirits up.
- I'm in the mood to tell a joke. Ready?
- What do you call a toad that's upset?
- Unhoppy!
- *laughs*
- Did you hear that?
- They... laughed...
- Last time I told a joke all I heard was yelling...
Back to the Storage Bay
- All we need is one more switch and we’re good to grab the scepter.
- I guess you could say our day won’t be scep-terrible for much longer! *laughs*
- Anything happen while we were away?
- I agree. Sir Dadadoo is up to no good.
- Really? I need to go see her. She’s one of the few that appreciate my jokes.
After the player wakes up from Stinger Flynn's dream
- We should have the last switch activated.
- I found two of these keycards laying around. Banban… I mean Uthman took one and left one for you.
- He saw you taking a nap and decided to head there alone. You should be able to catch up with him.
- He gets really jest-erratic when I call him Banban. Do you know why that is?
After activating the last button for the Scepter Room
- But you did it. We can now put an end to this chaos.
Inside the Scepter Room
- Didn't think I’d be seeing this room again this soon.
- The surgeon is supposed to be in here protecting the scepter. Where’d he go?
- I doubt he was caught by the Naughty Ones. Everything would be in shambles if he was…
After the player press the recharge button
- No! Nabnab!
- The scepter… It's missing a piece…
- That’s not good…
Encountering Sir Dadadoo in the Scepter Room
- We had no choice. They were going to destroy us all!
- I… I don't know where they are.
After exiting the maze bushes
- I… I don't think I can go…
- You wouldn't understand. They appreciate my jokes!
- This is my one chance to have an audience, and I am going to take it!
- Goodbye!
- *laughs*
Before chasing The Player:
- I'm still hungry...
- Oh I remember you. You always hated my jokes!
Before his death
- It's okay. I deserve this...
- Despite everything that's going down, I can't stop thinking about this one thing.
- Taking time off your day to make somebody laugh. We don't cherish that nearly enough.
- Worst yet, I've yet to experience such a euphoric feeling.
- I'm always the one telling jokes, and I've yet to have someone tell me a joke...
- Sheriff... Tell me a joke...
- I... Don't get it...
- Oh, wait. That's actually... Not bad at all...
- Heh... Heh... Heh...
