Overview[]

Flumbo[1], also known as The Anti-Devil and Case 6C, is the main protagonist of Garten of Banban 0 and the deuteragonist in Garten of Banban VIII: Anti Devil.

Appearance[]

Flumbo closely resembles Banban, but unlike him, he lacks party hats and is colored blue, his tongue, or there lack of, doesn’t stick out. He also possesses yellow markings near his mouth and eyes, resembling a beard and eyelashes. He was originally created to replace Banban after his Hellish form was created.

Flumbo's Hellish form is similar to Banban’s Hellish form, however, he gains a pair of curved, dark brown-yellowish short devil horns on his head opposed to Banban who had longer horns. He retains his signature eyelash-like yellow markings around his large, pale white eyes and a beard. His mouth is wide, jagged, and lined with eight sharp triangular teeth, glowing yellow inside. Instead of looking chaotic like Banban’s, his face carries a calmer grin, hinting at the control he maintains over this transformation.

Personality[]

During his first appearance Flumbo has a stunted child-like personality from being trapped in the closet for so long. During his meeting with the player, he still considered everyone was still playing hide-and-seek, unaware that Banban had locked him away in a closet. Overall, his personality is confused and childish, but well-meaning.

Towards the end of the game, Flumbo starts developing and becomes more mature as well as gaining information of why he was trapped in the closet for unknown years, and is shocked to find out that Banban had secretly hid Flumbo in order to not be replaced.

Like Banban, Flumbo also has a Hellish form, but unlike Banban, he can control his emotions, like his anger, and is able to retain complete control of his body in Hellish form meaning he can transform into hellish form as pleased.

Gameplay[]

Garten of Banban VII[]

At the end of the game, The Player is told to go rest by Syringeon, but then Stinger Flynn mentions Banban's mural on the wall looks as if it's pasted onto something else. The Player peels the Banban depiction off the wall to reveal Flumbo; but before the Player can do anything else, the Player gets knocked out by Syringeon, ending the game. This most likely implies that Syringeon wants Flumbo’s appearance and identity to remain a secret.

Garten of Banban 0[]

In the end of the game, it is revealed that the protagonist is 'Flumbo.’ Flumbo gets locked inside of the closet due to Banban being voted to be replaced and Syringeon‘s will of keeping Banban, after the events, scientist made a theory that Flumbo was killed under the rumble that was created by Ramamba. And remaining documents were nowhere to be found.

Garten of Banban VIII: Anti Devil[]

After the Player’s presents, Flumbo remained inside the closet, believing he was still playing hide-and-seek all this time. He grew up and reached his "mature" form, just like the others, and had also drawn in the closet with the givanium from a barrel next to him.

Flumbo is found by the player and is confused when his closet is opened, wondering if the player was playing hide-and-seek with them. Banban appears and explains that Syringeon requested Flumbo's presence, as he said they needed him. Flumbo seems excited and surprised to see Banban again, calling out his case number, as he does with everyone due to his lack of knowledge of others finding out there true identity. Still believing they're playing a game, he asks Banban if he'll rat him out to "17" or if he's nearby, worrying he’ll would lose the game. Banban manages to trick Flumbo into following him, and they continue on the train.

As the player continues through the old clinic, Flumbo accompanies Banban on the train. Flumbo is taken to the surgeon's tower, where he is tied up to have his eyes and other parts supposedly removed and likely used as parts to Banban's poor condition. The player finds Flumbo trapped and frees him. Syringeon and Banban arrive not long after, trying to convince Flumbo to surrender. He still believes he's playing hide-and-seek, accusing Syringeon and Banban of being the seekers all along. He claims he never loses a game, and pulling the player along, he throws himself into the abyss next to him, accidentally falling into Zolphius's mouth and ending up in his stomach. There, Flumbo and the player find themselves in the "givanium village," a strange place that existed within Zolphius, inhabited by givanium citizens.

The villagers imprisoned Flumbo, believing he was responsible for causing a fire in the neighboring village. The village elder instructs the player to try to gain the villagers' trust, so they vote for Flumbo's freedom by convincing themselves he wasn't responsible for the fire. The attempt, however, fails, and the player and the elder head to the ghost village to find evidence that Flumbo wasn't the culprit. There, the player confronts Varzah, the true culprit behind the fires. The elder, understanding the situation, returns with the player and explains the misunderstanding to the villagers, freeing Flumbo from his cell, which was never locked in the first place.

The elder then reveals to Flumbo his true purpose. He was made to be the star of Banban's kindergarten. However, Syringeon and Banban devised a plan to prevent Banban from being replaced, locking Flumbo in the closet so he would disappear. But now that Flumbo was back, he must reclaim what was rightfully his. Flumbo is a bit confused and unsure how to react to so much information. After the player rests, they, Flumbo and Stinger Flynn, are helped by the villagers to escape the bowels of Zolphius, after Varzah, who was still alive, sets the entire givanium village ablaze, with the villagers and the elder sacrificing themselves, but not before handing over a tape that he instructed the player to show to Banban when the time is right.

Upon their successful escape, Flumbo realizes the game of hide-and-seek is over, and his mind is still confused. Soon after, an announcement from Syringeon appears on a large screen, announcing that he has captured Banbaleena, the person Flumbo cares about most, in the secondary vat bay, threatening to harm her if Flumbo doesn't meet him there. Stinger Flynn stays behind while Flumbo and the player go to find Syringeon. Flumbo and the player then continue advancing and manage to defeat Miss Mimicker. Varzah briefly returns and threatens Flumbo and the player, saying he will "be back." Flumbo and the player advance further, and Flumbo discovers that Banban, whom he believed to be his only friend, was the one who betrayed him, leaving him crestfallen and wondering why the surgeon cares so much about Banban and not him, despite the fact that they are equals.

Finally, Flumbo and the player reach the secondary tank section, where Syringeon is holding Banbaleena hostage, accompanied by Banban. Flumbo reveals to them that he has discovered the whole truth, and despite their efforts to save Banbaleena, Syringeon throws her into the second givanium vat, causing Flumbo to become distressed and angry, telling the player to play the tape the elder gave her on the projector next to them. The tape reveals that Syringeon was responsible for Banban's "curse" of transforming into his Hellish form when angered. Banban collapses at the revelation and loses control, transforming, and brutally finishing Syringeon off, then throwing him into the vat below. An enraged Flumbo claims he is not the perfect version of Banban they wanted him to be, just as Banban is not as imperfect as he was told. Stating that, "he was just better at controlling his anger," unlike Banban, he also reveals that he possesses a Hellish form, likely (due to having been created from Banban's DNA), transforming, and engaging Banban in a violent battle. The clash ends with Flumbo and Banban falling into the same givanium tank below, into which Banbaleena and Syringeon had also fallen into earlier.

In the aftermath of the conflict, it is revealed that the amount of givanium and their bodies coming into contact with each other, the two —Banban and Flumbo- ended up merging into the Unnamed Devilish Amalgamation

Story[]

Banban has recently has undergone intense paranoia, an identity crisis, and the creation of a seemingly irreversible Hellish form. So to fix these issues, Management decided to create a new version of Banban that didn’t have any of the flaws, and would serve as the new mascot of the Kindergarten. They ended up creating Flumbo, a blue and yellow case that looks similar to Banban, execpt that he was blue and yellow and was missing his signature Party Hats. Syringeon protested this decision and started working to stop the replacement...

TBA

Ever since the end of Garten of Banban 0 Flumbo was stuck in the Closet thinking he was playing hide and seek deep inside the facility in the Operation Hallways of Floor -6. After the Naughty Fight Banban was left extremely injured, he made his way down to the Operation Hallways where the Player had recently woken up and found Flumbo still hiding in the closet. While he concealed his intentions by telling Flumbo that he would of gotten him if he knew he was still down there, his real intentions were to bring Flumbo to Syringeon's Tower so that Syringeon could use pieces of Flumbo to repair himself.

After leaving the Givanium Village with the tape that the Givanium Elder gave the Player, Flumbo and the Player witness a live broadcast from Syringeon above the city. Syringeon publicly announces that he had Banbaleena and if Flumbo and the Player don't want her to die they have to come to the Givanium Vat, the two set out to reach the vat.]

After arriving they find Syringeon and Banban standing on a catwalk over the Givanium Vat, they have Banbaleena held hostage hanging over the Givanium Vat, falling in it will kill her. Banban tries to convince Flumbo to just surrender so Banbaleena can be spared and he can repair himself using Flumbo's body, but Flumbo completely refuses, Syringeon click the button and releases Banbaleena to her death below, explaining that he would likely have to kill her for parts in the future anyways, seeing this the Player plays the tape on a nearby projector, on the tape is video evidence that reveals that Syringeon was the one that caused Banban's Hellish form to exist.

After hearing this news Banban becomes enraged and bursts into his Hellish form, he grabs Syringeon by the neck and punches through his chest, killing The Surgeon and throwing his corpse into the Vat. Flumbo lets Banban know that he wasn't actually a perfect replacement for Banban, and that he also had a Hellish form that he was just better at controlling.. Flumbo transforms into his Hellish form and the two mascots fight it out, both trying to throw each other into the Vat below! However in the end both Banban, and Flumbo fall to their deaths...

Trivia[]

  • The official Japanese store leaked Flumbo’s name months prior, but it was only officially confirmed after a Trademark leak.[1] [2]
  • The file name for a piece of artwork of Flumbo is called "Original Banban" in the game files, likely meaning Flumbo was conceptualized to being a prototype version of Banban.
  • Flumbo is the second monster character players can play as (the first was Stinger Flynn in Garten of Banban III), along with being the first character to be played in a non-mainline game.
    • As of Garten of Banban 0, Flumbo is also the first and only playable monster character that is played as through the entire game.
  • At the end of Garten of Banban 0, in the secret Slow Seline room, a case update report about the "Anti-Devil" is on the table. This refers to Flumbo and means that he was meant to be the opposite of Banban personality-wise.
  • In the third teaser trailer for Garten of Banban VIII: Anti Devil, Flumbo does not have a back stitch, but he does have one in-game.
  • Many players often confuse his Case number with 4 (Syringeon's case number).
  • Flumbo was one of Banban's prototype names from the first game. This is a possible reference to how he was a prototype Banban concept.
  • Judging by Flumbo's drawings in the closet, he has a love interest towards Banbaleena. Although it isn’t stated if she feels the same.
  • Since Flumbo was made using the same or slightly altered DNA of Banban, it is very likely that they are canonically twins.
  • Before his name was revealed to be Flumbo, some fans called him "Beardban.”
  • Flumbo is the only character to still call other characters by their case numbers.
  • Flumbo's idle pose is the opposite of Banban's; Banban stands with his hands behind his back, while Flumbo stands with his hands in front of him.
