"It's okay to have no friends and be miserable like me!"
-Nabnab
Overview[]
Nabnab is an abandoned member of Banban's Family who is extremely aggressive due to a mixture between instinct and loneliness. He was loose for presumably most of his existence, causing massive causalities amongst the facilities' staff. The Spider is sympathetic towards others that he notices are like him and will bond with them.
Appearance[]
Depiction[]
Nabnab's Depictions shows him lurking with his arms raised in the air in a menacing matter, he has bright blue skin and a monochromatic party hat.Gameplay[]
Garten of Banban II[]
Nabnab, also known as The Spider and The Twisted One, is one of the antagonists of Garten of Banban II. He's first seen peeking from the entrance to the Comms Sector. If the Player tries to approach him, he backs away and disappears.
Later, when the player collects the Light Blue Keycard from the Maintenance Room Storage Closet, the player sees more artwork on the wall of him saying "Boo!". When the player leaves the room, Nabnab starts crawling on the ceiling trying to capture the player. The goal of this chase sequence is to run through the Maintenance Room maze to escape from Nabnab without standing still, otherwise, he'll drop from the ceiling to attack. The player must follow the blue arrows, which lead to the exit, and go against the advice of following the pink arrows, which lead to dead ends. The blue and pink arrows are both lit up by spotlights as the player approaches them, which is an attempt to trick them into hitting a dead end. After the player escapes the Maintenance Room, Nabnab can be seen traveling back along the ceiling to the Storage Closet area, after knocking down a shelf.
After its chase, Nabnab doesn't appear for the rest of the game. However, after Banbaleena is picked up by Jumbo Josh following the Assembly Room chase, the player can walk back the way they came, and the hallway will be barricaded by a hospital bed behind which Nabnab can be seen watching them.
Garten of Banban III[]
In the B2 Cafeteria, you may notice that Nabnab is peeking out from behind the opening for the Kleaner. If the player tries to approach Nabnab, he then disappears.
After the player leaves Toadster's Jail, The Spider Room has been opened. Banban says that Nabnab is on the hunt and tells the player to head to the -3 Medical Sector. However, if the player enters The Spider Room instead, Nabnab will jumpscare the player.
After the player creates Nabnaleena, Nabnab leaves with her to the exit of the Arboreal/Aquatic Sector. However, Jumbo Josh interrupts the meeting and captures Nabnab, causing Nabnaleena to crawl back into Nabnab's room in a panic. After this moment, Nabnab's Hat lies on the floor.
During the second Stinger Flynn dream, Nabnab can be seen chasing the car that the player, Flynn, Opila Bird, and Banban are inside of, should the player look behind them. After the player wakes from this hallucination, now inside the Jumbo Josh Lounge, they see Banbaleena and an unconscious Nabnab, knocked out from when Josh captured him earlier.
Garten of Banban IV[]
After entering the Ventilation Sector, Sheriff Toadster tells the player that he knows Nabnab is stalking them in the vents. The player has to use Little Beak to tell where Nabnab is. Little Beak will tweet near the dangerous vents so the player will have to avoid them to dodge Nabnab's attack. After completing it, Nabnab will disappear once the player disables the vents.
Nabnab appears in the Stinger Flynn dream sequence, and is seen sitting to the right side of the player. Banban and Stinger Flynn tell the player that they ran out of vegetable snacks, although Nabnab still has a piece of Broccoli which he is about to eat. Instead, he decides to give it to the player. After this interaction happens, Stinger Flynn comments that he has never witnessed kindness coming from a spider before. Later, when a Special Guest appears, Nabnab gets up to communicate with him while Stinger Flynn pulls back Banban.
After entering the Feeding Sector with Banban, the player calls Zolphius so Banban can give Mr. Kabob Man to him. Nabnab jumps out and kidnaps Mr. Kabob Man, so Banban starts chasing him while the player follows behind. The player has to go through the -4 Parkour Room while Banban corners Nabnab and starts to attack him. At first Banban is bested by Nabnab but then he loses control and transforms into his Hellish Form knocking Nabnab down in seconds.
Garten of Banban VI[]
When the player returns from the Potentiality Sector, Banban reveals that Nabnab had appeared and was up to his usual shenanigans. Banban thought that the only way to prevent trouble was to lock Nabnab in a cage, which is exactly what he did.
Nabnab makes an appearance in the Stinger Flynn dream sequence, where he can be seen sitting on the left of the player. He remains there until Captain Fiddles gets kidnapped, which causes Nabnab to get up and chase the bus responsible for the kidnapping. In doing so he gets hit by a second bus.
Nabnab remains in the cage until the player, Banban, and Bittergiggle open the door to the room of the scepter. Before they go in the room, Banban decides to free Nabnab from the cage, and once free he immediately springs up to the ceiling. When the player is about to press the eject button to release the scepter, Nabnab unexpectedly appears and spams the eject button, causing Bittergiggle to panic, which stops Nabnab in his tracks. The scepter then comes out of its chest, but Bittergiggle realizes that the scepter is missing a piece. Sir Dadadoo then enters the room and confronts Banban, Bittergiggle, Nabnab, and the player, revealing that he plans to take the scepter and hunt down Sheriff Toadster and Syringeon. Banban then says that won't happen and orders Nabnab to join his side, comforting him in the process. With one hand on Nabnab's shoulder, Banban suddenly injects Givanium into Nabnab and throws him in the corner. Nabnab then transforms into his Hellish form and fights Sir Dadadoo, allowing the player, Banban, and Bittergiggle to escape while The Naughty Ones chase them. In the final scene of the game, it is revealed Sir Dadadoo survived the attack, and interestingly, Nabnab doesn't appear next to the naughtified characters despite making contact with Sir Dadadoo.
Garten of Banban VII[]
In this game, Nabnab' only appears in Stinger Flynn's dream sequence. After Hellish Banban tackles Stinger Flynn out of the helicopter, Nabnab grabs the player and jumps out of the helicopter as well before it explodes.Trivia[]
- Nabnab's model without its eyes and tongue can be found out of bounds, presumably changed slightly and used for Nabnaleena during her minigame in Garten of Banban III.
- Nabnab appears to be the opposite of Banban in every way. While Banban has lots of friends, but Nabnab has none. Banban is red, and Nabnab is blue (as these colors are often considered opposites). Banbanโs hellish eyes are pure white, Nabnabโs hellish eyes are pure black. Furthermore, Banban's birthday hats are colorful, meanwhile, Nabnab's birthday hat is monochromatic. Even his name, "Nabnab", is just Banban spelled backward. Their only similarity is their tongues sticking out from their mouths and party hats in their respective monster forms.
- Nabnab has a female counterpart called Nabnaleena (Similar with Banban and Banbaleena)
- Despite Nabnab being a spider, he only seems to have four legs when most spiders have eight.
- Nabnab can be seen following the car in Stinger Flynnโs dream.
- Nabnab can only pathfind to the player as long as he can reach them and there's a path on the ceiling to climb on. Hacking the game reveals Nabnab cannot actually leave the warehouse. However, if the player tries to phase through the floor during the sequence where Nabnab crawls after them, Nabnab will lunge through the floor to attack the player.
- In the trailer for the Garten of Banban II mobile port, Nabnab's hat is missing in the thumbnail.
- Nabnab is most likely based on a Huntsman Spider.
- Nabnab's tongue and party hat are absent in Garten of Banban IV, aside from his appearance in the hallucination where the Special Guest appears. His tongue reappears when he grabs Mr. Kabob Man.
- He's one of the only characters that Sheriff Toadster hadn't captured, and one of the few monsters that Sir Dadadoo has not possessed.
- Nabnab is one of the most used enemies in the series, being a minor antagonist in Garten of Banban II and the overarching antagonist for the first half of Garten of Banban III. He then became the overarching antagonist of the middle of Garten of Banban IV, and a minor deuteragonist of the final half of Garten of Banban VI.
- It is unclear what happened to him after his fight against Sir Dadadoo, as he is not a part of the Naughtified Crew and does not appear in Garten of Banban VII, although it is likely he will appear again in a future game.
- Perhaps Nabnab knew Banban's true intentions for Flumbo in Garten of Banban 0, which is why he hugs Flumbo before releasing Ramamba and sacrificing himself. The strained relationship between Banban and Nabnab throughout the series may also be linked to Flumbo's disappearance after Banban hid him in a closet. Considering that Nabnab in Garten of Banban 0 considers Flumbo his friend and embraces him, Nabnab may have gone wild and hated Banban because he thought Banban had managed to kill Flumbo after all (assuming that the theory that Nabnab may have known Banban's true intentions towards Flumbo is correct).
