Overview
Opila Bird, also known as The Bird and Case 10, is a major character in the Garten of Banban series. She appears as the main antagonist of Garten of Banban, the secondary antagonist of Garten of Banban II, a supporting character in Garten of Banban III, a minor character in Garten of Banban IV and Garten of Banban VI, and a secondary antagonist in Garten of Banban VII.
Appearance
Monster
Opila Bird is a pink flamingo-like bird that is covered in handprints, having a second color of purple which appears on her wings and on her ruffled head feathers. Opila Bird's eyes are bloodshot and her sharp beak is yellow, along with her strong legs she uses to run in the Banban Chase Scene/Bird Race.
Hurt Monster
Opila Bird looks very similar to her Garten of Banban look, only she has gained a scar on her right eye, thanks to the fact she fell to the bottom of the Ball Pit.
Naughtified
Opila Bird has one difference in GoBB 6 & 7. Instead of being normal she's Naughtified. (Doesn't include the GoBB 7 ending.)Opila Bird's depiction is quite similar to her monster form except for the grotesque vanes on her body. She also has a secondary version of her depiction that sports up arrow eyes instead of the traditional GoBB eyes.
Personality
Opila Bird is a motherly bird who cares dearly for her chicks and children being extremely protective of them to the point of fatal hostility. She prioritizes her chick's safety over anything else leaving people alone as long as they are not next to her chicks. She would presumably not act aggressively toward someone who earns her trust by protecting or keeping one of the chicks safe.
Gameplay
GoBB
Opila Bird first appears after opening the Colored Door to the rest of the Outer Sector from the Lobby. In the hallway, she creepily peeks her head out from the entrance to the Playground. After proceeding to the Door, Opila Bird can be seen sitting near the Ball Pit entrance and posing as a prop. The Player must insert 6 Eggs scattered across the area into her open mouth. When the Player gives her all six Eggs, Opila Bird produces the Yellow Keycard in her mouth for the Player, which allows them to do the puzzle in the room across, where they obtain the Hammer, giving them a way to enter the Ball Pit.
After taking the Chairlift to go across the Ball Pit, and completing the What Was My Color? puzzle, Opila Bird starts coming towards the Player with a secondary Chairlift. After leaving the Chairlift, Opila Bird doesn't immediately go to attack, but instead waits at a distance and only moves when the Player isn't looking at her. But after some time, Opila Bird becomes aggressive and starts chasing the Player. The Drone is used to press a Wall Button, revealing an emergency wooden board. They must walk on the board to the “what was my color? “ puzzle. After using the Orange Keycard to activate the emergency stop button, Opila Bird will jump, smack her beak on the edge of the wall, and fall to the bottom of the Ball pit .
GoBB II
Opila Bird returns when the player enters the long hallway of the Testing Sector with a scar on her eye. When they open the door at the very end of the hall and enter the Opila Room, her eyes can be seen glowing in the darkness. When the Player gets too close, she chases them down the hall, where Banbaleena will walk out of her Classroom and shout to guide them to her room. After exiting the Classroom, the Player will be tasked with finding the Baby Opila Birds. Opila Bird waits behind a door in the room and will attack should it be opened and not all of the Chicks are in the nest. Once the Player puts them all away into their Bird Nest, she will no longer attack but be preoccupied with them, ignoring the Player in order to run towards the nest.
GoBB III
Opila Bird appears in one of Stinger Flynn's dream sequences. While the Player is in the Stinger Mobile along with Stinger Flynn, Captain Fiddles, Banban, and obviously Opila Bird, she is asked what she thinks about the song on the radio by Stinger Flynn, to which she responds by giving a loud screech. She returns once more in the Bird Room along with Tarta Bird and will attack from above if they get too close to her Chick. Once the Player tames Tarta Bird, Opila Bird becomes passive, allowing them to place the Opila Chick on her back. After the Banban Chase, Tarta Bird loses his balance and falls into the aftermath of the Monster Fight due to Stinger Flynn shaking the entire room. A distraught Opila Bird then briefly stares at the Player, implying that she's entrusting them with protecting their Chick, before jumping down to save Tarta Bird.GoBB IV=
Opila Bird plays a relatively minor role in Garten of Banban IV compared to the other games so far. During the Charles dream, Opila Bird can be found to the left of the Player, sleeping next to the destroyed Stinger Mobile from the previous game throughout the entire scene. After the Player acquires the second elevator piece and talks to Queen Bouncelia, she can be found along with Tarta Bird in one of the cells at the Infirmary, silently staring at the Protagonist if they approach. Sheriff Toadster's audio explains that they were lured inside by him while looking for their missing chick. At the end of the game, Toadster mentions he let the other prisoners go for their safety, leaving the fate of Opila Bird unknown.
GoBB VI
She has a very minor role in Garten of Banban VI, only appearing at the end of the game as a Naughtified Monster.
GoBB VII
She first appears in the Trojan Bird play in the theater, they were sent by Sir Dadadoo to hide in the Trojan Bird. When the Trojan Bird is on stage She, alongside Tarta Bird, crawl out of the prop and chase the player out of the theater, however the entrance doors close behind the player, causing them to abandon their mission.
Similar to GoBB VI she later appears at the end of the game as a Naughtified Monster during the Naughty Fight where she is punched away by Jumbo Josh.Sounds

Trivia
- Originally, the main antagonist of Garten of Banban was supposed to be Stinger Flynn, but he was replaced by Opila Bird. [1]
- Opila/Tarta/Chicks display behavior closest to their respective species out of any character in the series. [2]
- On the whiteboard, there was originally a kids drawing of Opila Bird that can be seen, as shown on the Steam page. However, this was changed to a message saying, "The end is here." [3]
- Opila Bird does not appear in her walkway in the final chase in Garten of Banban II.
- A popular meme from 2014, known as "BIRD UP!", which was a segment from The Eric Andre Show[4], was re-popularized by Youtuber Uhyeah. it depicted an image of Opila Bird being captioned "Bird Up!". This phrase was also officially referenced in sequel games.[5]
- She along with Jumbo Josh used to be the only characters whose monster forms appear in every chapter, but now as of the release of Garten of Banban VI, which Josh did not appear in, leaves her as the only character whose monster form appears in every single Garten of Banban game, however, she only appears in Garten of Banban IV and Garten of Banban VI with a minor role.
- By reading most of the notes mentioning Claire, it might seem obvious that Opila Bird was trying to attack the kids during the events of Bring a Friend Day before Stinger Flynn saved them. However, given that Opila Bird is said to be non-aggressive towards children, and Stinger Flynn's possibly lethal plan involving them, the notes may actually suggest that Opila Bird and Banban were trying to protect the group from being kidnapped by Stinger Flynn, but they were eventually overpowered.
- When Opila Bird starts pursuing the player near the end of Chapter 1 after she takes a chairlift over to them, she is shown to follow a set path, moving in zigzags and occasionally stopping to stare at the player. Through hacking or exploiting different areas in the environment, and then moving to the other side of the platform, she will continue to follow her set path while her head turns around to look behind her at the player. Once she does get to the end though, the scripted path breaks and she can chase the player normally (accompanied by the music in that sequence).
- If Opila Bird cannot detect the player if they go off the wooden platform and stand on the ledge behind the fence, she will remain completely still until they become available to be reached by her again.
- Likewise, hacking to exit the hallway where Opila chases the player in Garten of Banban II reveals that she once again will come to a complete stop if she reaches the end of the hallway.
- When waiting behind the door during the sequence where the player has to put her chicks away, if hacking to go behind the door, she will continue to rotate her head around to look at the player, but not actually be hostile yet (as long as you do not touch her).
- The scene where Opila Bird falls into the pit is accomplished by Opila being teleported over to where she jumps towards the ledge.
- In Garten of Banban II, Opila Bird has a scar next to her beak and eyes meaning that she got a scar after her fall in Garten of Banban.
- Her eyes can somewhat glow, suggesting that she is nocturnal.
- Sheriff Toadster mentions that she and Tarta were actively "looking for something". It can be assumed they're looking for their baby.
- Opila Bird has had more opportunities to jumpscare you than any other monster in the series.
- Opila Bird was supposed to originally have a partyhat, but it was eventually removed due to it not being scary or intimidating. (confirmed on X)
- Opila Bird is the only monster to have two genomes, whose genomes are Struthio camelus, and Phenicopterus roseus. (as seen in the Case Update Reports, Update #2 and #4) • Opila Bird is having minor roles lately meaning that she won’t be important that much.
- Opila Bird]has her own soundtrack that appears in the first game, but appears as the second game's OST.
- In Garten of Banban IV on the Wanted lists one of the birds has a big-opened mouth. This may be a reference to the Mutated Little Beak. Also, we don't know which bird it was, Opila Bird or Tarta Bird.
